Fear is the ultimate condition that emboldens the lies of the world and the darkness within our souls. “I’m all alone and there is no one to help me.” “This upcoming terrible thing will put me under, and there is nothing I can do to stop it.” “It seems the world is against me again.” “God has left me alone; He doesn’t love me.”
If such fears threaten to drive you into depression, shout “Stop!” as loud as you can, shutting the door of your soul to fear and putting boundaries around it. The antidote to depression is God’s presence. He has said that He will never leave us or forsake us. The Bible is full of verses on fear, and they are all the same: look to God for deliverance, trust Him, and love Him as He loves us.
