Are you feeling hopeless, searching for meaning and purpose in your life? Take heart with the Apostle Paul’s message in 1 Corinthians 12:14-30. No matter your station in life, God has a purpose for you. You do not have to be like anyone else. Ask the Holy Spirit what that purpose is.
God created Moses for one purpose, the apostle John for another purpose, and Paul for yet another. He created leaders and followers, preachers and listeners, prayers and doers, those of great wealth to be givers and those of little status to be missionaries. Some He created to be placeholders for those who follow them, such as those listed in the first chapter of Matthew, many of whom appear in the Bible nowhere else. Perhaps your purpose in life is not in what happens to you but in what happens with your children or grandchildren, and much prayer is required of you and much encouragement for those entrusted to you. Or perhaps your purpose is to be an encourager of others, to be kind to everyone you meet, to be generous with praise, or to stand alongside someone who is afflicted or has undergone great loss. Yes, God has a purpose for you.
When I asked God what His purpose was for me, He spoke into my spirit this message, “With words you will serve me.” That was more than 20 years ago, and I have fulfilled that purpose in the last five years through the writing of two novels and now with a book called The Under Melody of the Holy Spirit. He has also given me a ministry to be His hands and feet to those suffering from depression. And as I have done the duty set before me, the depression that engulfed me for four years has lifted. Praise be to God.
